Chester Couny Pets and Stress - It's a Pet Problem Too!

Oct 03, 2016

You may not know it, but pets experience stress just like the rest of us. In fact, pet owners are sometimes the cause of that stress. Our pets watch and respond to tone, body language, and general disposition. So if you are anxious or stressed, your pet may be, too.

How can you tell if your pet is stressed out? Watch for any of these signs:

  • Destructive tendencies
  • Monotonous and persistent whining, barking, or even howling
  • Increase in drooling or salivation
  • Trembling, shaking, or nervous twitching
  • New or unusual bathroom habits
  • Compulsive licking of themselves or objects
  • Seeking out hiding spots to be alone
  • Other general changes in routine or behavior

If you notice any of these signs, make an appointment at Affinity. We can rule out any conditions that might be causing this new behavior. It’s incredibly important to check for underlying medical reasons as to why your pet might be acting strangely.

Together, we can treat the medical, environmental, or behavioral causes of your pet’s stress. Let Affinity help you and your pet live healthier and happier.
